Description – 2026 Pennsylvania State and Federal Combo Poster
Pennsylvania is still waiting on a raise that never comes: the state minimum wage has sat at $7.25 per hour since 2009, tied to the federal floor, and local governments cannot set higher rates of their own — yet the state’s newest posting-relevant change is not about wages at all. Effective January 24, 2026, the CROWN Act amended the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act so that “race” now includes hair texture and protective hairstyles, and paid sick leave remains a city-by-city story, with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh ordinances rather than a statewide mandate. This 2026 Pennsylvania combo carries the state’s minimum-wage, human-relations, child-labor, and related notices together with the federal notices on one laminated poster.
- Pennsylvania’s minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, and tipped employees must be paid at least $2.83 per hour in direct wages, with the employer paying the difference whenever tips plus the cash wage do not reach $7.25. The tip credit applies only if the employee received over $135 in tips for the month. - Pennsylvania’s CROWN Act (House Bill 439), signed November 25, 2025, took effect January 24, 2026, amending the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act so that “race” includes traits historically associated with race — hair texture and protective hairstyles such as locs, braids, twists, coils, Bantu knots, afros, and extensions — and “religious creed” includes head coverings and hairstyles historically associated with religious creeds. The law applies to Pennsylvania employers with four or more employees, and a hairstyle or head-covering rule that affects a protected trait must be justified as a valid health-and-safety rule or a bona fide occupational qualification. - Pennsylvania sets some of the country’s most specific youth hour limits, and every minor must receive a 30-minute meal period on or before 5 consecutive hours of work. Adults, by contrast, have no state meal- or rest-break entitlement. There is also no statewide paid sick leave law: Philadelphia requires up to 40 hours of paid leave at employers with 10 or more employees, and Pittsburgh has its own paid-sick-time ordinance.
