A complete California IIPP template, ready to customize
Title 8, California Code of Regulations, §3203 requires every California employer to establish, implement, and maintain a written Injury and Illness Prevention Program. This template gives you that document — complete, organized the way §3203 requires, and written in plain language your supervisors and employees can actually use.
What’s inside
- All eight §3203 elements: management commitment and assignment of responsibilities, an employee compliance system, safety communication, hazard identification with scheduled inspections, hazard correction timelines, accident and exposure investigation, training and instruction, and recordkeeping
- A standalone Employee Access section (Section 10) covering employee and designated-representative access
- Seven appendices: workplace inspection checklist, hazard report and correction log, accident investigation report, training documentation form, safety meeting record, employee acknowledgement form, and a Code of Safe Practices
- A step-by-step customization guide — most employers finish in about 30 minutes
Who this is for
California employers in general industry — manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and similar workplaces — who need a compliant written program without paying consultant rates to draft one from scratch.
How it works
Instant download after checkout. You receive an editable Microsoft Word document (.docx). Replace the bracketed fields with your company information, have management sign the policy page, introduce the program to your employees, and file the forms as you use them.
Important: This is a template. It must be customized to your workplace and actually implemented — a written program sitting in a binder does not satisfy §3203. This product is a compliance aid prepared by safety professionals; it is not legal advice and does not guarantee that Cal/OSHA will find your program adequate.
Frequently asked questions
Is a written IIPP required in California?
Yes. Title 8, California Code of Regulations, §3203 requires every California employer to establish, implement, and maintain an effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and the program must be in writing. Cal/OSHA can ask to see it in any inspection, and it is one of the most frequently cited standards in California.
What format is the template in?
An editable Microsoft Word document (.docx), delivered as an instant download after checkout. Every place you need to add your company information is marked with brackets, and a customization guide walks you through them.
How long does it take to customize?
About 30 minutes for most employers. You will need your company name and address, the name of the person responsible for the program, your inspection schedule, and your training schedule.
How is this different from the 50-state IIPP starter pack on this site?
The starter pack is a general template written for use in any state. This California edition is built specifically to §3203: it covers all eight required elements in the structure Cal/OSHA expects, including the employee-access rules in Section 10 and a Code of Safe Practices appendix.
Does buying this template make my company compliant?
No document can do that by itself. §3203 requires a written program that is actually implemented — inspections performed, training delivered, hazards corrected, records kept. This program gives you the complete written structure and the forms to run it; the implementation is what makes it effective.
