Driving is routine until one mistake changes everything. This 90-minute defensive driving course builds the alert, proactive, safety-first attitude that prevents crashes.
Safe Vehicle Operation (OSHA) Training Course Description
Driving is part of daily life, and most trips end safely. But a single mistake can change lives forever, yours and other peoples. With more vehicles on the road and more stressed drivers, every one of us has to take responsibility for the safety of others. Skill levels vary with experience, and as conditions change, staying a good driver means continually sharpening your knowledge and practice.
Above all, attitude matters. An alert, proactive, safety-first mindset makes every trip safer for you and everyone around you. This course builds that mindset across six modules: defensive driving fundamentals, vehicle safety and maintenance, distracted driving, defensive techniques, collision avoidance, and winter driving.
Course Content
This course includes the following topics:

- Why the right attitude behind the wheel matters so much
- Procedures and techniques for keeping your vehicle safe
- Spotting driving hazards and knowing how to handle them
- What distracted driving is and the risks it creates
- How to follow, brake, steer, and reverse safely
- Navigating lane changes and intersections
- Knowing when you should not be driving
- Preparing yourself and your vehicle for winter and bad weather
Why Defensive Driving Training Matters
Most drivers think they are above average, which is statistically impossible and exactly why defensive driving training exists. The road is the most dangerous workplace most people will ever enter. Distraction, fatigue, impatience, and bad weather turn routine trips into life-changing events every day. The right attitude behind the wheel matters as much as any technique.
This course is for anyone who drives as part of their job or wants to be safer on personal trips: delivery drivers, sales staff, field technicians, and commuters. Across six modules it builds the habits of vehicle maintenance, distraction avoidance, defensive technique, collision avoidance, and winter driving into a safety-first mindset.
Course details (as of October 2026): This course takes about 90 minutes to complete. A score of 80% is required to earn a certificate of completion, and you may repeat the course twice if you do not pass.
