Forklift Training

Forklift Training

First American Safety’s Forklift Safety Training course instructs operators on the safe operation of industrial lift trucks.  Our training program complies with Cal-OSHA requirements and is designed to increase awareness of the hazards of forklifts and how to prevent accidents in your workplace.

Forklift training topics include forklift stability, pre-operational inspections, driving rules, handling loads, operating around pedestrians, driving into truck trailers, and many more.  The training format includes book study, videos, a written test, and a hands-on evaluation of operator skills.

Class length varies depending on number of students and the ability of students.  Because of this we have different pricing for experienced operators and operators with no forklift experience.

Students who successfully pass the written and hands-on evaluations will receive a laminated wallet-sized course-completion card.  The employer will also be provided with a course completion certificate and a copy of the operator evaluation form to go in the student’s employee file.

The course completion card is valid for three years from the date of training.

Requirements-  Class can only be performed at customer’s location.  Customer must provide space to hold the class that is quiet, comfortable, and has seats, tables, and electrical outlets.  Customer must also provide a safe and operational forklift for the hands-on evaluations.  Students must be present for the entire class in order to receive completion documents.  Payment shall be made by check before the training begins, unless other provisions have been made.  Payment is due whether or not a student passes the course.

Pricing

Experienced Operators-

$100 per student; minimum charge per class is $200

Class takes 2.5-3 hours for up to 10 students.  More students will usually take more time.

Operators with No Experience-

$200 per student

If a student has zero experience on a forklift he will need to be trained from the ground-up.  Extra hands-on training will be provided until the trainer is satisfied the student is comfortable with controlling the forklift and has developed basic operating skills, up to four hours.  Employers are encouraged to directly supervise these employees for at least a month after the training.  Becoming a skilled and safe operator does not happen overnight.
